talk:
The AT4041 is a good
fishpole mic for tight interior shots. It has good rejection at the
sides to reduce room echoes.
The 4041 is very
sensitive to voltage drops from phantom power supplies. When powered
by the Shure FP32 field mixer, be sure to
listen closely for increased hiss as the FP32's 9-volt battery supplying
power to the mic is consumed.
The 4041 is sensitive to
wind noise and benefits from being placed within either a
softie or
windscreen.
grip tips:
As a boom operator,
listen very carefully. You need only drift a small degree away
from an actor to lose the sound coming directly her mouth and to
pick up her voice echoing off surrounding surfaces. Generally, the low-cut
filter should always be on when recording dialogue to reduce low-frequency
noise like footsteps and environmental pollution. The human voice does
not extend into the area affected by the low-cut filter.
