This modular suspension may be either held in the hand or mounted on the end of a fishpole like the Gitzo.  It provides a microphone mount that minimizes external vibrations and bumps.  (It is shown here with a typical long shotgun mic like the AT815b.  A variety of clips provide for different mic barrel diameters.

By itself, the suspension system can handle most indoor situations.  However, for exteriors and for some mics that are very sensitive to wind, you will need the Rycote windshield, below.
