straight-talk:
The 910SU is useful for visual video color and level checks. While only a vector scope and waveform monitor may provide an absolute reference, this monitor is fine for all but the most critical applications.

At only 300 lines horizontally, there are bigger monitors better suited for focus checks but this 9-inch monitor will certainly get you most of the way there -- and it's easy to carry.  To focus, roll your camera's focus ring back and forth, bracketing the sharpest image then settle as close to the center of that movement as you can.

grip tips:
The 910SU comes in a Portabrace protective soft-case that includes a built-in sun visor and dual-height pedestal. Be sure to open the side and bottom vent flaps to allow proper ventilation.

Calibrating the 910SU to your camera's color bars is critical. Step-by-step calibration is explained on a card included with the monitor.

Any monitor is best viewed in a darkened environment. If you must be outdoors or in a bright environment, consider providing some measure of shade over the monitor to supplement the sun visor. A dark umbrella or dining canopy can help your eyes better adapt for proper viewing.
